To All Members,
      I am informing you of a Club Shoot we are having this Sunday, September 7th. We will be shooting a 900 Round in preparation and familiarization for the upcoming State Target Championship held in Apopka, Fl. in October.  Shooting will be on the 122cm multicolor face (approximately 48") at 60, 50, and 40 yards; Youth 50, 40, and 30 yards, Cubs 30, 20, and 10 yards. Six Arrows per end, 5 ends per distance. Maximum score is 900 Points.  This is a very popular round to shoot as you get to shoot longer distances while still being able to post a good score due to the size of the target.  No worries about losing arrows as you will shoot on the FITA Range and missed shots can be found in the grass fairly easily.

Shooting starts at 9am. Shoot is $10 and lunch will be $5.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS !!
If you were unable to attend the annual renewal picnic, you can still renew your membership.  Follow the link below and print out an application, fill it out completely and submit it with your dues.  Bill will then provide you with keys to the gate.  Unlike the cost of fuel, food and everything else, membership dues DID NOT increase this year!

Here's a little update to let all of our members know
how fellow members are doing out in the competitive world:

Vic Wunderle competed in the Beijing Olympic Games for the U.S. Archery Team. While on his way to a 6th place overall finish, Vic eliminated the World's #1 Olympic Recurve Archer  Im Dong-hyun in the elimination rounds!!

Don Osceola competed in the North American Indigenous Games held in Vancouver, British Columbia.  Don brought home a Bronze Medal in the 3D competition shooting in the Senior Traditional Class. 

David (Doc) Brandfass competed in the 124th Annual NAA National Target Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Doc shot in the Master 60+ Senior Olympic Recurve Class,
 finishing 2nd!

Mark Beggs competed in the 124th Annual NAA National Target Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Mark shot in the Master 50+ Senior Olympic Recurve Class finishing 3rd!

Michelle O'Donnell competed in the National Crossbow Championship in New Jersey. She finished in 2nd Place!

Sean Meloy placed 2nd in the Rookie of the Year Standings for the ASA Pro/Am 3D tour! His highest finish was 8th place in Metropolis , Illinois.

IN NEED OF A TAX DEDUCTION?
The club pick up truck has seen its last days and we are in need of a used truck.  Big, small, it doesn't really matter, just so long as it runs.  If you have a pick up you would like to donate to the club, please contact Bill, Eric or email the club at fortlauderdalearchers@gmail.com
 
If you are the first one to arrive on club property, please close
the lock on the front gate, as it will be hard to lock the gate if someone
else decides to steal the open lock!
 
TUESDAY NIGHT 3-D CONTINUES
In the mood for a little 3-D?  Come on out Tuesday nights at 7:00 for our weekly 3-D shoots. 
No prior registration is required and everyone is welcome.  The cost is $8.00 each night you
decide to shoot and the payback is 50%.  Turnout has been in the 12-15 member range, so
come on out and join the fun!
 
DAVID "DOC" BRANDFASS HONORED
   We would like to extend a very special and heartfelt "Congratulations" to fellow Fort Lauderdale Archer David "Doc " Brandfass for his lifetime achievements in archery.  Honored at the 2007 State Fita Field Championship, Doc was inducted into the FAA Hall of Fame by Bob Jones, President of the FAA.  Doc is also a lifetime member of Fort Lauderdale Archers.
 
WORK PARTY CREDITS!
These days everyone is a little short on spare time, and coming out for a work party can be a scheduling nightmare.  But did you know you could earn work party credit any day of the month?   We always need assistance making new targets, setting up & breaking down shoot courses, helping at shoot events, overall cleanup and general repairs and maintenance tasks.  If you would like to earn work party credits and need ideas, contact Bill at 954-584-1616.

A LESSON IN CLUB ETIQUETTE
Ever wonder who cleans up that empty McDonald's coke container you left on the picnic table or the half empty water jug you thoughtlessly discarded on a bench?  No, it's not the maid.  And no, it's not the after hours cleaning crew.  Believe it or not, it isn't even your mother.  It is your fellow club members.  Show a little courtesy as well as some respect by cleaning up after yourselves!  Don't expect others to do it for you.  Also, if you notice trash on club grounds or overflowing in cans, etc., be considerate and pick it up!

Do you have questions, concerns or constructive input for our Board?  Ever wonder how  funds are being spent or how decisions involving the club are made?  Members may not realize that monthly Board meetings are open for their participation.  We welcome your attendance the first Wednesday night of each month at 7:00 p.m.
